song demo: Broken Strings

I’ve been wantin recently

to save my broken guitar strings

tied into silver rings around my fingers

I think that’s holdin on too long

but haste makes waste and right makes wrong

they say what doesn’t break you makes you strong

am I a harp in the hand of some strange man

I’ve yet to stand on greener land

and these seeds I’ve sown are more permanent than sand

but the first flood will wash them all away

and I’ll say hey hey I wanna be

those happy people with their things

glass windows were designed to keep you out but let you see

what you’ve been missin out on

all this idle time

with your broken strings

smell of rain before the storm

hangs in this air so wet and warm

and when it rains i always miss you more

I had a dream i walked around

frozen bodies underground

heard broken thoughts and hearts and silenced sounds

and they said

hey hey it’s true what they say

that nothin comes from nowhere anyway

loneliness and lust ride in on their respective waves

and lusty veins

all fill the same

some things don’t change

dunno what i’m runnin from but one fast move and i’ll be gone

this texas heat runs thick within my blood

and i been living recklessly

one mark for each night lost at sea

with a tendency for sleepin through my dreams

am i a harp in the hand of some strange man

i’ve yet to stand on greener land

and these roots i’ve grown are more permanent than sand

but the first flood will wash them all away

and I’ll say hey hey I wanna be

those happy people with their things

glass windows were designed to keep you out but let you see

what you’ve been missin out on

all this idle time

with your broken strings
